EMIR & Financial Instruments

Do you know which financial instruments have to be reported under EMIR? EU Directive 2004/39/EC, better known as Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), is an integral part of EMIR and defines 'financial instruments'.

The full list of instruments can be found in Annex 1, Section C, and it contains, among others, derivative contracts relating to climatic variables, freight rates and emission allowances. This means that, for example, also freight forward agreements will have to be reported under EMIR as well.

We have prepared a full list of all instruments as per the above EU Directive in our facts section.
